God is our helper, the bible tells us that God protects, supports, aids, shelters, and surrounds us. He gives us the Holy Spirit who is our helper and comforter, and counselor. As I grow in my ability to truly help my husband that does not mean I am inferior. The term helper, “Helpmate” is a descriptive function it does not mean superiority or inferiority, it is not about worth. Being a helper to someone does not define your worth or your value and you do not lose your worth to help someone. The function actually suggest we grow and its an endearing productive relationship.
We are equal in essence but man and woman have distinct functions and roles. God established distinct functions for men and women; the unique genders, Genesis 5:2; “He created them male and female, and blessed them and called them Mankind in the day they were created.” Our roles reflect important truths about God. We have God-ordained roles, the bible is crystal clear on how we should live our lives.
