MIXING BAKING SODA AND CITRIC ACID

An excellent Science Experiment to try at home; let’s call it the Blast off! A great mixture you can use for a Volcano Eruption Experiment as well. Homeschool Fun!
Baking soda is known as a “base,” and citric acid is an “acid” – these chemicals react and create the gas carbon dioxide! When you add soap to the mixture, the carbon dioxide becomes foam because the gas gets trapped in small soap pockets!
Materials Needed:
Beaker, Flask, Baking Soda, Citric Acid, Water, Dish Soap, Food Coloring, Measuring Spoon!
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 Tablespoon Baking Soda
- 1 Tablespoon Citric Acid
- 50 ML Warm Water
- 7 drops of Food Coloring
- 4 drops of Dish Soap
INSTRUCTIONS
Start by adding 1 Tablespoon of baking soda and 1 Tablespoon of citric acid to the flask. Next, add 7 drops of food coloring to the flask. Add 4 drops of dish soap to the flask and set aside. Measure 50 ML of warm water, add to the flask and watch the liquid. Observe what happens to the Baking Soda, Citric Acid, and Dish Soap now that the Water has been added to the mix.
Pro Tip: Add an extra Tablespoon of Citrus Acid for an enormous explosion 🙂

I love to see the wonder and amazement in my children’s eyes as they are doing science experiments. Learning should be fun, a great enjoyment of learning in God’s creation. Charlotte Mason said; Education is an atmosphere, a discipline, a life. We all need encouragement and edification in our lives; by God’s great grace, we can persevere through the challenging times in which we live.
Have fun and enjoy these days with your family; children truly are a blessing, a heritage from the Lord. Motherhood is a ministry, we truly are missionaries, and truly it is a high and holy calling. We get to disciple and share the gospel in everyday life in practical ways with our children. Keep looking to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith.
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Hymnal
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heav’nly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
Amen.
Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one’s youth. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; They shall not be ashamed, But shall speak with their enemies in the gate (Psalm 127: 3-5).
