The entire Book of Ruth clearly demonstrates the providence of God working behind the scenes and preparing the way for His plan.

Boaz: His Hebrew name means; (in him is strength). He was an honorable man of wealth and influence. Boaz was respected in his community and by his employees. He was a gentleman, even in dealing with women who were not from his ethnic or economic background. Boaz is a prominent man of integrity.
Now behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem, and said to the reapers, “The Lord be with you!” And they answered him, “The Lord bless you!”
Ruth 2:4
Boaz salutations is such a warm greeting! He prayed for his servants. He chose to be a blessing to them. He did not use his status or his authority over them, he demonstrated kindness and strength. What a beautiful example of what a godly man looks like. His character shines bright; a noble gentleman indeed!
Then Boaz said to his servant who was in charge of the reapers, “Whose young woman is this?”
Ruth 2:5
I love how he took notice of her, he inquired about her, she had caught his eye. He was watching over his field; being a protector, defender. Boaz warned Ruth kindly, not to go and glean in another field- nor leave his field. He said; stay close to his young women and for her to fix her eyes; Ruth 2:9; “let your eyes be on the field which they reap and go after them.” Boaz set provisions for Ruth, he was protecting her, providing for her and commanded that the young men would not touch her. He also said in v. 9; “And when you are thirsty, go to the vessels and drink from what the young men have drawn.”
Isn’t that what Jesus says to us? He invites us, He beckons us with His love. He says come, you who are thirsty, come drink of Him. Christ is the living water. We are speaking spiritually here. The things of heaven, the things of God. Only Jesus can satisfy our deepest longings. He is a well that never runs dry.
“Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you without money, come, buy, and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost! Isaiah 55:1
But whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a fount of water springing up to eternal life.” John 4:14
On the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood up and called out in a loud voice, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. John 7:37
Whoever believes in Me, as the Scripture has said: ‘Streams of living water will flow from within him.’ John 7:38
But Peter replied, “May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money! Acts 8:20
I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, white garments so that you may be clothed and your shameful nakedness not exposed, and salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see. Revelation 3:18
